Term 1
1 February: Term 1 begins and the Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge opens for school registrations
27 February: Challenge Book Lists are published in The Age lift-out of The Sunday Age
8 April: Term 1 ends
10 April: The Big Read - Initiated by the Children's Book Council of Australia, this event will attempt to bring together the greatest number of children reading with an adult in Australia and will be held at the State Library of Victoria and at locations in Geelong and Ballarat. Term 2
27 April: Term 2 begins
15-21 May: Education Week
1 July: Term 2 ends - schools are advised to close student registrations by this date
Term 3
18 July: Term 3 begins
20-26 August: Children’s Book Week
16 September: Reading Challenge ends. The Challenge online application closes. No data can be entered after this date
23 September: Term 3 ends
Term 4
10 October: Term 4 begins
October/November: Certificates issued to students
22 December: Term 4 ends
