Issues based works.

When completing your issues based tasks, a number of useful resources/links are available to you.

1. For a broad overview of topics, students should first look at Echo Education's Media Issues Outlines which will give you some background information and outline the pros and cons of an issue. (Ask your teacher or a Library staff for the username and password.)

  • Click on Media Issue Outlines
  • Issues are grouped by year with most recent at top
  • Make your selection from the topics provided
  • Use tabs at top of screen to navigate between background information, pros and cons on the issue, further implications and newspaper references

2. Echo Education also provides a list of newspaper articles that relate to your topic.

  • Go to back to Echo Education's homepage and click on Echo Newspaper Index
  • Select VCE file which will limit search result to articles published within last 12 months
  • Type in keyword(s) for your issue eg. euthanasia, gay marriages, nuclear power, refugee etc...
  • Results with  will take you directly to the article.
  • For all other articles, you can find them in the ProQuest ANZ Newsstream database (State Library | Maribyrnong Library) simply by copy and paste the article's title.

3. While at school search the Library Catalogue for Issues in Society - this resource is available in digital format. The digital files (PDF) are available on Gilnet\Classresources\Library\Issues in Society.
